About

We’ve lived in Bend since 1969. Central Oregon is a great place to raise kids and enjoy family and we’ve been lucky to be here.

Photography means a good deal to me. It is a great satisfaction when others enjoy photographs I’ve made of the world around us. It seems we’re here for such a short time and I am compelled to capture scenes that remind me of just how lucky we are.

A well-composed and exposed landscape photograph shows us the world that we really can’t see with our natural vision. The ability to capture detail throughout the image, front to back and side to side is only realized through photography. The eye looks at a scene that is in focus and sharply detailed that is really only part of the overall scene and vista. Our eyes focus on what we are looking at specifically and the rest of the area around that location is not in focus but is recognizable. Look into the distance and it is apparent. With photography and the management of depth of field it is possible to look at an image in which everything is sharp and in focus. I also enjoy isolating scenes within a scene with telescopic lenses that also result in a way to enjoy seeing the world that is impossible to witness with the naked eye.

About this site: It is intended to give an idea of the sort of photography that I enjoy and have to share with others. In combination of the different formats (35mm, medium and large format) I have a file of some 7,000 plus transparencies. Mention of areas photographed and a brief idea of locations is listed in the "Stock Photography" page of the site.

Community: I am a strong believer in giving back. I adhere to what the late Bob Chandler always said, " If you take up space, you need to pay rent". That attitude well defines the manner my late father lived his life and in doing so inspired me to try to do the same. How we feel about the community around us is directly related to what we put into it. Bend is an extraordinary place to live because of all those in the community that try to make a difference.

Pet Non Profit: The Central Oregon Family Resource Center.
Please support the "Vision for Families" Auction of Photography and fly fishing trips, which will be held each year. You can email or call me for information on this event or contact the FRC at 541-389-5468. It is the only event of its kind on West Coast that combines photography and flyfishing that benefits families in need.
